We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Management Accountant on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is a key senior role in the Financial Planning and Analysis team of IOP Publishing.
What will you be doing?
The senior management accountant is a key business partner who will take responsibility for the support of a key business function. Working closely with the divisional director and management team they will lead on and coordinate all financial management processes. Including:
* Financial reporting and profitability analysis.
* Planning, budgeting and forecasting for the division as well as supporting any business decisions with financial analysis and business advice.
This is a highly visible role in IOP Publishing and will require excellent communication and presentation skills, solid financial judgement and problem-solving skills, as well as an ability to form strong business relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key job accountabilities include:
* Design, Development and operating effectiveness of financial process, financial control and risk management to support business transactions and financial accountability in their area of responsibility (likely a business division)
* Partnering with the business to produce budgets and forecasts for a business unit that deliver company goals and objectives
* Accountable for managing and coordinating process at functional level
* Owning and managing the monthly and annual reporting processes for a business unit function
* Assessment of all business transactions to ensure that they are recoded in accordance with internal/external accounting policy and standards
* Partnering with Senior management to provide analysis and financial modelling to support investment decisions
* Provision of reporting and analysis of key business drivers for assessment of business unit performance
* Preparation and review of management accounting information before distribution and presentation to external partners and/or suppliers
About you:
Professional qualifications
* Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
Knowledge & previous experience
* Experience of owning and developing divisional financial planning processes
* Extensive experience of month end, budgets and forecasts
* Experience of managing staff and a passion for supporting staff development
* Planning and prioritisation of team objectives
* Strong systems (ERP) knowledge including process development to support business requirements
* Experience of supporting commercial finance, new business and investment decisions
* Influencing and coaching senior stakeholders
* Advanced excel and power point skills
* Experience of financial modelling preferable
