Job Description:
Chartered Building Surveyor Scottish Highlands
Life-Changing Opportunity
Permanent | Full Time | Rent-Free Accommodation | Competitive Package
Represented by Perpetual Partnerships
Perpetual Partnerships is proud to represent a remarkable client in their search for a Chartered Building Surveyor to take a leading role in one of the most breathtaking and unspoiled corners of the United Kingdom—the far Northern Highlands of Scotland.
This is not just a job—it's a lifestyle opportunity that could redefine your personal and professional trajectory.
Why This Role Could Be Life-Changing
Imagine leaving behind the relentless pace of urban life for the serenity and majesty of the Highlands. Your working environment will include deer-stalked glens, ancient forests, dramatic peaks, and lochs rich in trout and salmon.
This role is at the heart of a historic and forward-thinking rural estate, where sustainability, heritage, and community are prioritized. You will be part of a small, driven leadership team delivering exceptional work across a diverse property portfolio with a long-term vision for preservation and innovation.
The Opportunity
As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you will oversee the estate's buildings and infrastructure. This senior leadership role involves both hands-on and strategic management. You will manage a skilled in-house maintenance team and lead planning, delivery, and compliance of construction, refurbishment, and repair projects across the estate's assets.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing refurbishment and maintenance programs
* Leading and mentoring the in-house team
* Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and statutory inspections
* Budget forecasting and cost control using systems like Qube, C365, and Stock Condition surveys
* Liaising with local authorities, suppliers, and contractors
* Supporting long-term estate planning goals
Who We're Looking For
Qualified MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor or equivalent (CIOB/APM) with at least 5 years of construction or estates management experience. Confident leading multidisciplinary teams, comfortable working remotely, and motivated to deliver high standards across challenging projects. A full UK driving license is essential, with occasional travel to a head office in England for quarterly meetings.
What's on Offer
Enjoy living in the Highlands with an attractive compensation package, including:
* Rent-free accommodation with fully paid council tax
* 20% non-contributory pension scheme
* AXA private medical insurance (employer-paid)
* Life assurance (4x salary)
* Monthly wellness contributions (£30)
* Access to staff discounts and social events
Your base will be in a stunning part of the Northern Highlands, surrounded by spectacular landscapes and a welcoming community—every day offers breathtaking views and experiences.
A Word from Perpetual Partnerships
