Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation, and technology and knowledge transfer. - THE ROLE - The postholder will be a full-time integral part of a multi-disciplinary, cross-faculty PEACE-Air project team at Ulster University, including Co-investigators from Built Environment, Geography and Environmental Sciences, Law, Nursing, and Medicine. They will provide timely support as well as independent administrative and field-based contributions to cross-border activity and outcomes that aim to tackle air pollution through community-embedded scientific, socio-economic and health-focused research, cross-community inclusion, spatial and demographic analysis, and legacy N-S capacity building and knowledge exchange to influence policy and practice. This post will lead and support interdisciplinary, community-engaged research on air pollution, socio-economic disadvantage, and health across the island of Ireland. PEACE-Air (Partnership for Evidence and Action on Clean Air) is a cross-border project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The project, led by ERNACT (European Regions Network for the Application of Communications Technology), includes Ulster University as one of 10 full-time partners with 7 additional associate partners from academic, government, and voluntary sectors. - ABOUT YOU - - Hold a PhD (or near completion with thesis submitted) in a relevant built environment, geographical sciences, health, or social sciences related subject. - Demonstrable experience in mixed research methods, specifically participatory research methods. - Experience of having planned, executed, and reported on a research project to successful completion. - Experience of developing or effectively contributing to participatory engagement in research with non-academics. - Evidence of preparing research outputs in a relevant area suitable for peer-reviewed publication (published, under review, or in preparation). - A good understanding and evidenced experience of mixed methods research, including qualitative and quantitative data, incorporating participatory and/or spatial approaches, including GIS (e.g., Esri).
