Team Leader Care
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Responsible to: Registered Manager
Location: Heysham, Morecambe
Salary: Basic salary of £27,803.20 with a potential to earn up to £34,523.20 with sleep in shifts.
We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Residential Home Team Leader to join our already established Children\'s Home Team at Bayview. You\'ll be working in one of our family‑feel children\'s homes in Capernwray, Carnforth, with a maximum of four young people per home.
Responsibilities
* Support in guiding young people aged 8–18 with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to success and help create a safe, secure, homely and positive environment for the children and young people in the home to progressively improve their lives.
* Assist the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in the leadership and management of day‑to‑day operations of the Home; contribute to continuous improvement and development of the Home\'s quality, image and reputation.
* Deputise for the Registered Manager when they are not physically present at the Home.
* Hold a full UK driving licence.
* Hold Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children & Young People.
Business Management and Improvement
* When the Registered Manager is not present, assist the Deputy Manager in deputising for the Registered Manager and manage all day‑to‑day aspects of the Home.
* Ensure expenditures do not exceed the pre‑agreed budget without prior permission.
* Ensure the quality of food provided aligns with pre‑defined standards; assist with menu planning, cooking and purchasing of foodstuffs as required.
* Lead and participate in weekly staff meetings when the Registered Manager is not present; foster open, positive and inclusive communication.
* Engage staff in decisions affecting day‑to‑day work; prepare for senior staff meetings to communicate important information.
* Contribute ideas for medium‑term improvement of the Home for inclusion in the annual development plan.
* Raise any problems or issues with the Deputy or Registered Manager promptly.
* Pursue ongoing professional development in childcare and attend required training and workshops.
Staff Management
* Manage staff fairly and consistently in line with the Home\'s core values to maintain low turnover.
* Address day‑to‑day staff management issues promptly and professionally.
* Proactively manage employee absence; conduct return to work interviews as required.
* Ensure adequate cover for short‑notice unavailability and deploy staff effectively on shifts.
* Maintain appearance standards; conduct regular performance reviews and use appropriate indicators for measurement.
* Ensure compliance with legal health and safety requirements and company policies; promote high personal hygiene standards among staff.
