Nurse Practitioner (Non Medical Prescriber)

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust in conjunction with health partners across the county have developed a care pathway for adults and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) across the Lancashire footprint.

The service has modernised access to care and treatment for those experiencing symptoms of ADHD in order to ensure better, more effective clinical outcomes for service users with this lifelong condition.


Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of this developing team and we have a vacancy for an Independent Nurse Prescriber within an ADHD service. The post is full time (37.5 hours per week) with the majority of clinics based in Central & West. The post holder will be expected to travel to clinics around the county of Lancashire due to service requirements.

Job responsibilities

As a lead nurse in the field of ADHD, take a lead role in the development and delivery of this specialist Lancashire-wide ADHD assessment and monitoring service including the development and evaluation of clinical practice.

As an Independent and Supplementary Nurse Prescriber within the field of ADHD, the post holder will be required to work autonomously across Lancashire & soulth cumbria Foundation Trust.

Within a systemic and holistic framework undertake needs led, evidence based, highly skilled ADHD assessments and brief interventions to young people, their families and carers, who present to the service, including as a result of deliberate self-harm.

As part of an integrated ADHD service actively liaise and support robust partnership working arrangements between the CAMHS and Adult Mental Health services and community partners and other key stakeholders involved with the child across agencies in order that an integrated package of care is developed.

Provide a high level of generic skills and competencies and work towards development of areas of clinical expertise within the field of ADHD complimenting other members of the team.

To be an Independent Nurse Prescriber within the field of ADHD, to prescribe medicines in relation to this and where clinically necessary use NICE Guidelines to guide your decision making.


Person Specification


Education

* First level nursing qualification, RMN or equivalent
* Independent & Supplementary Nurse Prescribing V300


Knowledge

* Demonstrable knowledge and skills in evidence based needs led assessments, of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of children, young people, their families and carers
* Demonstrable knowledge and skills in evidence based therapeutic interventions relevant to the needs of the client group
* Demonstrable ability to communicate to clients, their families and professionals sensitive and often difficult to receive information, using various methods including verbal, non- verbal, written and presentation skills


Experience

* Specialist working knowledge and experience of supporting and monitoring children and young people in CYP services including those diagnosed with ADHD
* Demonstrable knowledge/understanding and experience in assessment of young people with complex mental health and/or complex needs such as ADHD/ASD
* Evidence of an ability to effectively manage own workload and able to work autonomously
