Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive General Paediatric service across the Trust and surrounding areas, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses.
* Ensure continuity of care for patients under your charge and perform clinical duties as set in your job plan, delegating appropriately and training staff.
* Deliver an out‑of‑hours service with colleagues and participate in the Consultant 1 in 8 General Paediatric on‑call rota (Non‑Resident Rota).
* Supervise and manage junior medical staff, carry out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education locally and nationally.
* Participate in clinical governance arrangements of the Trust, including clinical audit and research.
* Implement Infection Control Policies as determined by UHDB NHS Foundation Trust.
* Maintain compliance with personal continuing medical education (CME) requirements with the support of the Trust.
* Stay aware of professional guidelines such as ‘Duties of a Doctor’ and ‘GMC Performance Procedures’ and act in accordance with them.
* Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of a General Paediatric Service.
* Provide care for children with epilepsy.
* Collaborate with colleagues on day‑to‑day management of the General Paediatric Service.
* Teach and train junior staff and medical students.
* Actively participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning clinical governance and audit.
* Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
Working Hours
We welcome applications from candidates wishing to work less than 10 provisional appointments (PA). Adjustments will be discussed with the Paediatric Clinical Director and Assistant Clinical Director.

Employment Terms
This is a permanent appointment based at Derbyshire Children’s Hospital at the Royal Derby Hospital. Other services are also available across all Trust sites, including Queens Hospital Burton, Ripley, Ilkeston, Lichfield, and Tamworth.
