Role overview: Required to undertake duties as directed and respond to reactive requests, providing best practice in all cleaning activities carried out to uphold company values at all times and to meet contractual deliverables.
What you'll do:
1. Follow cleaning principles to the required standards as laid down by the EMCOR SLA & Cleaning Services Specification and Local Education Authority requirements.
2. Operate mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment in accordance with site training, instructions, and manufacturers' recommendations.
3. Dilute and use cleaning products and materials as instructed and to manufacturers' recommendations.
4. Carry out regular replenishments of consumable items such as soap and toilet paper in all toilets/activity areas as directed by the Premises Manager.
5. Collect and remove waste and rubbish from classrooms, activity areas, and toilets, then transfer it to the agreed collection point for the subcontractor.
6. During school closure periods, perform deep cleaning tasks including walls, doors, FFE, carpets, and polished floors, involving application of polishes/seals and carpet shampooing based on manufacturer instructions.
7. Notify the Helpdesk/Premises Manager or other designated personnel of any repair or maintenance needs for safe and efficient operation, retaining any detached parts found.
8. Observe and comply with all Health and Safety policies, COSHH, and other relevant codes of practice for cleaning staff.
9. Assist in cleaning other areas during staffing shortfalls due to sickness or absenteeism, as directed.
10. Perform emergency cleaning duties as required due to accidents, sickness, or vandalism.
11. Carry out cleaning activities where a health hazard exists, following Risk Assessments and using PPE as appropriate.
12. Comply with security and confidentiality instructions.
13. Perform additional duties within reasonable skill levels, including deputising in other roles, collecting/delivering goods, and working extra hours as needed.
Previous experience of workplace cleaning is advantageous. Other desirable qualities include good timekeeping, providing excellent customer service, a methodical approach to work, and the ability to read and speak English to ensure safe practices.
