Contract: 3 Months, 36hrs pw, 7:30am - 3pm
Location: Southwark
As a Grounds Maintenance Worker on council estates, you will be essential in ensuring that outdoor environments are clean, safe, and inviting for residents. Your responsibilities will include maintaining communal green spaces, pathways, play areas, and estate entrances. Your efforts will help instil community pride and enhance residents' wellbeing.
Responsibilities
* Maintain lawns, hedges, flower beds, and communal gardens across council estates.
* Conduct regular litter picking and waste removal from outdoor areas.
* Ensure pathways, entrances, and communal spaces are clean and free of hazards.
* Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, snow removal, and gritting.
* Report incidents of fly-tipping, vandalism, or safety concerns to the appropriate council team.
* Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, strimmer, and leaf blowers.
* Engage respectfully with residents and uphold the council’s standards of service.
Requirements
Requirements:
* Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping.
* Familiarity with health and safety procedures in public spaces.
* Ability to use and maintain outdoor tools and machinery.
* Good communication skills and a community-focused attitude.
* Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather.
* Basic knowledge of horticulture.
Working Conditions
* Typically full-time, Monday to Friday.
* Outdoor work across multiple council estates within a borough.
* May involve manual handling and the use of protective equipment.
Requirements
Requirements: Experience in a maintenance environment with occupied properties. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-skilled team. Physical fitness to perform manual tasks. Health & Safety training certificates relevant to the role. Valid UK driving license.
