Offer description

Role profile

"They have some very good lawyers. They are very smart, very business-focused and very aware" - Chambers & Partners

We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our highly regarded Property Disputes team in Bristol, rated by Chambers & Partners as a national leader outside London.

This is a great opportunity to join a team experiencing significant growth in work and to build relationships with some fantastic clients while working in a collaborative team environment. You will be joining a successful firm with a collegiate and supportive culture, making it a rewarding place to work.

The practice

Our specialist Property Disputes lawyers excel in helping clients resolve all kinds of disputes, ranging from landlord and tenant issues to complex, highly technical development and land rights disputes for telecom operators. The team handles cases at all levels of the court system, as well as before tribunals and arbitration panels, to represent clients' interests. The practice also provides advice on risk mitigation and management in the context of potential disputes and property-related regulation.

We have a premier client base supporting market-leading cases. Clients include British Land, Barratt Homes, Marks & Spencer, Greystar, NGED (formerly Western Power Distribution), Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure, Telefonica, and Vodafone.

The team

Led by Leona Briggs, rated in both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500, the team spans Bristol and London offices. In Bristol, the team comprises 2 Partners, 1 Legal Director, 6 Associate Directors, 7 Senior Associates, 5 Associates, 2 Trainee Solicitors, 7 Paralegals, a legal manager, and 2 Solicitor Apprentices. The London team includes 3 Partners, 2 Legal Directors, 3 Associate Directors, 3 Senior Associates, 1 Associate, 1 Trainee Solicitor, 1 Solicitor Apprentice, and 1 Paralegal. This role will primarily support Leona Briggs and Emily Van Schalkwyk, the partners in the team.

Technical skills and experience

Due to the technical nature of the practice, we seek candidates with experience in a recognized Property Litigation team and a strong track record managing a varied caseload. You should have excellent drafting and legal technical skills, enthusiasm for understanding clients' sectors and relevant law, and demonstrate collaborative team working as well as the ability to work independently. Supervisory experience with junior team members is also advantageous.

Experience required includes tribunal litigation under the electronic communications code, particularly in taking an MSV under paragraph 26 from notice to trial, advising on process, evidence, and strategy, and client-facing experience. Additionally, experience in tree lopping claims and the overlap between the 1954 Act renewal process and the code is necessary.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Associate in this area, though candidates with more or less experience will be considered.

Your career development

All our lawyers benefit from our multi-award-winning career development programme, which provides clear expectations, high-quality work with early responsibility, thorough feedback, technical training tailored to your needs, and recognition based on contribution and potential rather than PQE or tenure.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.

Our recruitment process

We welcome direct applications. For more information, contact Angharad Jenkins at angharad.jenkins@osborneclarke.com. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We do not use automated decision-making in our recruitment process.
