Purpose

The role of a Senior Travel Consultant is to take responsibility for existing Abercrombie & Kent clients and build upon our rapidly growing client base. You will create memorable journeys, manage the client from initial contact through itinerary building, confirm travel arrangements, follow up upon return, and set up their next exciting experience with Abercrombie & Kent.


Responsibilities

* Sales
* Initiate contact with enquiries asking for brochures, nurturing the enquiry into an active sales lead.
* Stay familiar with all products and developments in your region, including special offers highlighted on the A&K website, brochures, magazines, and other marketing collateral.
* Participate in daily morning catch‑ups with your Regional Sales Manager, providing a clear view of enquiries, quotes, pre‑ and post‑calls, and a comprehensive daily update of your to‑do list.
* Attend product training sessions and company‑sponsored educational trips.
* Actively participate in all learning opportunities, offering your expertise to the training team where requested to increase knowledge across the business.
* Complete relevant educational pre‑ and post‑trip paperwork, including preparation and delivery of a presentation to your team and the office.
* Use effective questioning techniques to establish client requirements and then use product knowledge to create a bespoke itinerary that matches preferences and requirements.
* Ensure itinerary proposals, with quote, are produced and delivered to the client within 24 hours, or keep the client updated if this is not possible.
* Prepare quotes within acceptable margin parameters as set out by the management team.
* Maintain an efficient, professional and friendly relationship with the client throughout the booking process. Keep clients (and travel agents) informed of progress and booking status, including updates on developments.
* Call the client pre‑travel and post‑travel to seek feedback, pre‑empt any problems and maintain a courteous relationship.
* Encourage the client to complete a post‑travel questionnaire.
* Tackle any post‑travel problem‑solving in a professional, expedient and diplomatic manner, always aiming to exceed expectations and deliver total client satisfaction.
* Research all itineraries, using our in‑house system, Amadeus for flight information, manuals and guides. Consult with ground handlers before a quotation becomes a booking, and advise the client of the likely timeframe for this process.
* General
* Reliably follow all company processes and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency, and recommend enhancements when appropriate.
* Actively participate in and implement learning from all available hard and soft‑skills training.
* Provide cover for absent colleagues so that service delivery to clients remains seamless.
* Represent Abercrombie & Kent at client events and trade exhibitions, acting as an ambassador for the brand.
* Revenue & Profitability
* Proactively manage itinerary progress from initial quote through to bookings and repeat business to maximise revenue and profit.
* Monitor individual and team sales targets, working to achieve or exceed them.
* Maximise margin through adherence to set margin guidelines and eliminate mistakes via precise use of the reservations system.
* Sales Performance
* Actively promote A&K DMCs and end‑user product.
* Collect and increase client information to ensure relevant details are retained.
* Record reasons why a proposed trip did not result in a booking to learn directly from the client and apply this knowledge in the future.
* Sign off the file post‑travel, securing repeat business and recommendations.


About You
