SEN Teaching Assistant
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH, within specialist and mainstream school settings across Salford.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support that enables pupils to access learning, build confidence, and develop independence. Previous experience is not essential, making this an ideal role for individuals looking to begin or progress a career in education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND, helping them engage with learning
2. Support the implementation of EHCP targets and adapt activities to meet individual needs
3. Assist the class teacher and SENCO in delivering inclusive, differentiated lessons
4. Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
5. Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, including transitions and routines
6. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
Requirements
7. A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs
8. Willingness to learn and develop within an SEN setting
9. Strong communication and teamwork skills
10. A patient, adaptable, and resilient approach
11. Any experience with children, care, coaching, or support work is beneficial but not essential
Essential Checks & Certificates
12. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
13. Right to work in the UK
14. Two satisfactory references
15. Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete prior to start)
