Job Overview
Based in County Hospital, Pontypool, MSK outpatient physiotherapy department, the role seeks a dynamic, forward‑thinking clinician. The physiotherapist will embrace the Health Board values, exhibit excellent communication skills, strong team working, and demonstrate leadership qualities.
Key responsibilities include independently managing a musculoskeletal clinical caseload with support from senior clinicians and mentors, engaging in shared decision‑making, applying evidence‑based practice, and participating in clinical audit, research, and professional development activities.
Responsibilities
* Manage a clinical caseload in musculoskeletal physiotherapy independently.
* Collaborate with the administration team and departmental colleagues.
* Provide education and mentoring to rotational staff and physiotherapy students.
* Participate in speciality forums, clinical audit, research, and clinical supervision.
* Engage in structured personal appraisal and annual reviews underpinned by the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Diploma/degree in physiotherapy; registered with the Health Professions Council; experience of a comprehensive Band 5 rotation; experience of staff supervision; broad clinical experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
* Desirable: Evidence of having worked in the UK as an HPC registered physiotherapist; experience of unsupervised practice; participation in 7‑day service provision; prior Band 6 position; MCSP; evidence of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level; evidence of audit participation; IT literate; current hold of relevant post‑graduate training.

* Ability to identify and respond to adverse clinical signs.
* Awareness of national clinical guidelines and evidence‑based practice.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Teamworking and initiative.

* Understanding of clinical governance ethos and NHS challenges.
* Continuing professional development evidence meeting HPC requirements.
Physical and Practical Requirements
* The physical ability to perform manual handling as required.
* The ability to adapt to changes in work routine.
* The ability to move between sites within the Health Board as needed.

Salary and Pay Award
