The Team The Power Station Integration team ensures the coherent, safe and optimised design of the entire SMR plant. We work across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions, embedding safety, technical rigour and regulatory compliance into every aspect of the power station’s design and operation. We are looking for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead the development of fire safety strategies across the SMR power station design. This role influences plant architecture, supports design integration, and ensures our fire protection approach is robust, compliant and aligned with regulatory expectations. Key Deliverables We’ll need you to: Develop and implement fire protection strategies across nuclear site design. Provide technical leadership, coaching and guidance within multidisciplinary teams. Define and manage fire safety requirements across the full design lifecycle. Collaborate with Safety Case, Systems Engineering, Layout, C&I, Civil/Structural and Mechanical teams to deliver integrated, coherent solutions. This is a highly visible, technical leadership role where you’ll bring first‑class communication, analytical and safety‑focused engineering skills to influence one of the world’s most advanced clean‑energy designs. Essential Skills / Qualifications Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline. Experience in fire protection, fire safety engineering or fire system development. Ability to manage engineering deliverables through full lifecycle stages. Strong communication and documentation skills. Understanding of fire codes, standards and regulatory expectations. We’ll ask about your experience influencing multidisciplinary teams and integrating safety into large, complex designs. Location Hybrid working, with regular attendance at our Manchester, Derby or Warrington offices depending on project requirements. What’s in it for you?
