EBME Service Supervisor

We are recruiting for a EBME Service Supervisor who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The post holder is responsible for supporting the operational delivery of the EBME (Electro‑Biomedical Engineering) service, ensuring the safe, reliable, and effective performance of medical devices across clinical departments. The role involves supervising the maintenance, repair, calibration, and lifecycle management of a wide range of medical equipment while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, Trust policies, and safety requirements.

The position provides technical leadership to EBME engineers and technicians, allocating workloads, supporting complex fault diagnosis, and mentoring junior staff to maintain high technical standards. The post holder also manages preventative and reactive maintenance activities, investigates equipment failures and incidents, and ensures accurate documentation within the medical equipment management system.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with clinical teams, IT departments, manufacturers, and suppliers, the role supports medical device connectivity, equipment procurement, installation, and commissioning of new technologies. The post holder contributes to service improvement initiatives, performance monitoring, and quality management processes to enhance equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and overall EBME service delivery.

Supervise the day‑to‑day operational delivery of EBME services across clinical departments to ensure the safe, reliable and effective operation of medical devices.

Plan, coordinate and implement preventative maintenance (PPM) programs to achieve agreed maintenance compliance targets in line with regulatory requirements.

Ensure timely diagnosis, repair and calibration of a wide range of electrical, electronic and electromechanical medical equipment.

Manage and prioritise reactive maintenance requests and emergency equipment repairs to minimise disruption to clinical services.

Person Specification

* Degree or HNC in Clinical/ Electronics Engineering
* Minimum of 5 years' engineering experience working in a medical devices environment.
* Technical proficiency in medical device maintenance, repair, calibration, and safety testing
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clinical staff, suppliers, and team members.
* Organisational skills for managing equipment records, inventory, and maintenance schedules.
* Leadership and Team Management Skills
* Communication and Stakeholder Skills
* Medical Equipment Technology: Understanding of the principles, operation, and components of a wide range of medical devices and equipment.
* Lifecycle Management: Knowledge of equipment maintenance, calibration, safety checks etc.
* Electrical Safety: Awareness of electrical and functional safety testing protocols for medical devices.
* Regulatory Standards: Familiarity with UK healthcare regulations and standards including HTM 06‑01, MHRA medical device alerts, IEC 62353 series, and other relevant safety guidelines.
* Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion
