Join us and be part of a world-class team making a positive impact on the planet. Purpose of the role: As a Product Cost Engineer at Ceres, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the economics behind our next‑generation clean energy products by building and owning detailed cost and scale models that directly inform engineering choices, manufacturing strategy and commercial propositions. This role is ideal for someone who loves blending analytical rigour with real‑world engineering insight and enjoys being at the heart of product and business decisions, translating complex technical, operational and commercial inputs into clear, trusted economic models that guide senior decision makers and influence product strategy from concept through scale‑up. You will develop, refine and maintain robust Excel‑based cost models spanning components, assemblies, full products, factory scales and geographies, quantifying the impact of design changes, process choices, technology selections and supplier options while ensuring models remain structured, transparent and auditable for senior stakeholders. Working closely with Product Management and Product Development, you will embed cost and scale economics into product roadmaps and partner with engineers to interrogate process steps, yields, cycle times and manufacturing constraints. You will assess supplier capabilities, manufacturing routes and scale‑up pathways, support the identification and development of new supply chain partners and emerging manufacturing processes, and analyse localisation options, capital investment requirements and cost structures across multiple scales. On the commercial side, you will provide cost foundations and scenario analyses for customer proposals, pricing, business cases and negotiations, support Business Development with application‑specific economics and ensure Marketing and external messaging reflect accurate, defensible economic insights. Operating cross‑functionally, you will bring clarity and objectivity to discussions where priorities differ, communicate complex modelling outputs in a concise and actionable way, and help teams align on decisions by grounding conversations firmly in data. Knowledge and skills required for the role: · Exceptional Excel modelling skills (complex formulae, structured logic, scenario modelling) · Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering cost drivers and scale economics · Ability to extract and translate technical detail into accurate financial and operational models · Confident working across engineering, commercial and finance teams · Comfortable challenging assumptions constructively and professionally · Excellent verbal and written communication being able to make complex analysis simple and digestible · Rigorous, structured and detail‑oriented · Naturally curious about manufacturing and willing to learn from first principles · Proactive, independent and takes strong ownership of outcomes
