Temporary Management Accounting, Projects – Peterborough / Hybrid
Contract: Until December 2025 (potential to extend)
Rate: £28.60 per hour (37 hours)
Location: Peterborough + Hybrid working
We’re urgently seeking a Project Accountant to provide management accounting support within a major project. This is a full-time, temporary role (37 hours per week) based in Peterborough with hybrid working (typically 2–3 days in the office, flexibility depending on project needs).
Key Duties:
* Ensure compliance with financial controls, accounting standards, and internal policies.
* Lead annual budgets and periodic forecasting (CAPEX & OPEX).
* Deliver accurate and timely month-end reporting, including accruals, forecasts, and variance analysis.
* Produce clear performance reporting and provide financial insight to senior stakeholders.
* Act as a trusted advisor to budget holders, providing challenge and decision support.
* Build strong working relationships with Finance, Commercial, Programme Controls and external auditors.
* Support audit activities, prepare documentation, and address compliance issues.
* Drive continuous improvement through automation, digital tools, and streamlined reporting.
* Mentor and coach colleagues where appropriate, supporting the development of the wider finance function.
* Contribute to a culture of integrity, safety, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
* Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong project/management accounting experience.
* Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills.
* Strong Excel and SAP knowledge.
Proven ability to partner with non-financial stakeholders and deliver clear financial insight.
