Maintenance Technician Job Title: Maintenance Technician Department: Group Services Reports To: Facilities Management Team Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-6:00pm (including 1-hour unpaid break) Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 p.a. (gross) We are seeking a reliable and skilled Building Maintenance Technician to support the overall upkeep, safety, and presentation of a commercial property. The successful candidate will help ensure the building operates safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard. Key Responsibilities Carry out general day‑to‑day maintenance tasks as directed by the Facilities Management team. Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance issues and complete tasks within agreed timelines. Conduct routine inspections of communal areas, plant rooms, lighting, fire safety systems, and other essential infrastructure. Support the delivery of the planned preventative maintenance programme. Oversee and coordinate contractors when required, ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records and escalate major issues when necessary. Perform weekly fire alarm tests and other mandatory compliance checks. Provide occasional out‑of‑hours support for urgent building matters. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with regulatory standards. Candidate Profile Experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities‑related role. Practical knowledge across general building trades, including basic plumbing, electrics, carpentry, and decorating. Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive, "can‑do" approach. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and contractors. Strong attention to detail and awareness of Health & Safety requirements. Ability to prioritise workloads and manage time efficiently. Basic IT literacy for record‑keeping and communication. Eligibility to work in the UK.
