We are excited to advertise an internal-only opportunity within Biffa for a Senior Bid Development Manager.
This role is ideal for an experienced BDM ready to step into leadership. You will lead a team, drive high-quality bid delivery, and take ownership of complex, high-value opportunities. Acting as the link between the Head of Business Development and the wider team, you will help shape strategy, improve performance, and win major contracts.
This is a hands‑on leadership role with real impact on Biffa’s growth.
Your core responsibilities
* Lead, coach and develop a team of 3–6 Business Development Managers
* Drive consistent, high-quality and compliant bid submissions
* Support bid strategy, pipeline planning and resource allocation
* Take ownership of complex, high-value bids from start to finish
* Develop winning solutions across operations, commercial and pricing models
* Deliver compelling presentations to clients throughout the bid process
* Build strong relationships with consultants and key stakeholders
* Identify new business opportunities and stay ahead of market and legislative changes
* Work closely with Regional Managers to support growth within existing contracts
* Champion continuous improvement across bid processes and best practice
Our essential requirements
* Degree educated or equivalent experience
* Proven experience managing and delivering complex bids
* Strong leadership and team management capability
* Commercially astute with a strong understanding of bid processes
* Confident communicator with strong presentation skills
Desirable:
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Membership of a relevant industry body
