Solicitor - Court of Protection (Health & Welfare)

What are we looking for?
We are recruiting a Solicitor for our Court of Protection, Property and Affairs team, ideally with up to four years of post‑qualification experience (PQE) and who can competently manage Court of Protection matters.
Where will you be based?
This role is based in our Manchester office, with occasional travel to other offices.
How many hours will you be working?
This full‑time role is 35 hours per week. We work flexibly; while the hours are not fixed 9‑to‑5, we expect the work to be completed in line with client and team needs.
A brief overview of the role
This role works within the Court of Protection, Property and Affairs team. The Solicitor will undertake fee‑earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the department. They will ensure the department’s development aligns with the business plan while meeting client needs promptly and addressing any arising issues.

Getting paid for the work you do
* Undertake fee‑earning work and contribute profitably to the department.
* Conduct matters with due diligence, ensuring technical excellence, client service, and clear language.
* Participate in business development and marketing for the Court of Protection Property and Affairs Department.
* Manage financial control: take monies on account, record time accurately, and meet chargeable and non‑chargeable targets.
* Agree fees with clients up front, using fixed fees or hourly rates with estimates where applicable.
* Bill promptly, maximizing recovery time and complying with Court of Protection rules.
To be able to perform this job you will need
* Fully qualified solicitor with up to four years of PQE, ideally in a COP P&A department.
* Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues.
* Effective time‑management, organisational skills, and proactive initiative for tight deadlines.
* Confidence in networking and relationship building to generate business and cross‑referrals.
* Adherence to firm procedures and client confidentiality.
* Desire for continuous personal and professional development.
