If youre an experienced Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer, looking for a new opportunity with a company offering fantastic career progression for the right candidate, then our Principle Consultant (RT) is keen to talk to you about whether youll be a great fit.

As an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer, youll be responsible for designing precision measurement systems and test rigs while following the development life-cycle. This will include research, concepts, design reviews, estimating, prototyping, documentation, assembly, and testing.

You will collaborate with the software development team, wider business, and customers on development projects. Youll really have a chance to make your mark with the company, who as weve mentioned, are keen to invest in the right candidate for a solid career within the business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Work on design projects, following the hardware development process to develop and produce:
hardware design research
hardware design concepts
resource estimates
prototypes
design drawings
design specifications and documentation
test plans
2. Take part in and contribute to the review and prioritisation of requirements relevant to hardware design
3. Participate and contribute to design reviews
4. Assemble, test and review design solutions as part of a controlled iterative design process
5. Follow the process for the generation of IP to ensure that IP is created and protected appropriately during development
6. Contribute to hardware development process improvement by providing constructive feedback to line management on its implementation
7. Manage hardware design projects that are assigned by line management, from requirements through to delivery.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

8. Strong academic background in electro-mechanical engineering or related discipline
9. At least 3 years experience as an engineer in an electro-mechanical, automation, robotics or metrology role, in an industrial context with hands-on experience in building prototypes
10. Familiarity with 3D CAD modelling
11. Good working knowledge of GD&T
12. Experience with precision engineering concepts
13. Familiarity with machinery directive and machine safety
14. Good awareness of development life cycle and agile development methods
15. Familiarity with 3D geometric data and data processing
16. Knowledge of programming, preferably in C#
17. Fluent written and spoken English
