Base Pay Range
* Salary ranging from £27,930 - £30,555 based on additional skills and responsibilities
* 40 hours per week – Full Time
* Capped overtime available
* 24-hour service, 365 days a year
* 4-on / 4-off rolling shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends

About the Role
Mitie Care & Custody are responsible for delivering the end‑to‑end management of all residents’ needs until the outcome of their case is decided by the Home Office. This is balanced against competing pressures of safety, security, welfare needs and regime.
We aim to treat those in our care with dignity, decency and respect, delivering a safe and healthy establishment that stands up to public scrutiny. We operate in a high‑risk, high‑profile, heavily regulated environment engaging with stakeholders including the Home Office and Medical Service delivery partners.
You will support residents to understand what happens next, engage in activities relevant to them, and build positive staff‑resident relationships. Your working time will require full flexibility to cover day shifts with varying start and finish times as well as night shifts.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the safety and security of all residents
* Maintain accurate records and reports
* Provide support and guidance to residents during detention
* Engage with residents in a respectful and professional manner
* Participate in training and ongoing development
Qualifications & Experience
* Be a UK citizen or Commonwealth citizen with indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or an EEA citizen.
* Valid and up‑to‑date passport with no restrictions on stay in the UK.
* Biometric card with a current passport.
* Resided continuously in the UK for the past five years with no overseas trips longer than three months.
* Prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check, complete employer referencing for the previous five years and be vetted to Counter Terrorism Checked (CTC) level if offered the role.
* Full UK manual driving licence with no driving bans or disqualifications within the previous five years.
* Not currently bankrupt.
* Experience dealing sensitively with vulnerable, anxious, confused or volatile individuals is an advantage.
* No specific role experience or qualifications required – full training and development are provided.
Training & Development
Newly appointed staff will run a seven‑week classroom‑based initial training course and receive on‑the‑job mentoring over the next twelve months.
