Central Employment is working with a small business seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of bespoke electronics solutions for the automotive sector. This role offers full ownership of projects from concept through to production, working closely with the R&D team and stakeholders to ensure technical excellence and commercial viability. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end electronics development projects, from initial concept and specification through to production implementation. Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams to define system architecture and engineering requirements. Conduct market and technical research to inform design decisions and benchmark against existing solutions. Develop schematics and PCB layouts using tools such as KiCad, EasyEDA, or Altium. Redesign and optimise existing products to improve functionality, reduce cost, or enhance manufacturability. Present technical proposals and progress updates to internal stakeholders and senior management. Ensure compliance with relevant safety, EMC, and regulatory standards throughout the development lifecycle. Oversee design verification, testing, and fault-finding using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and protocol analysers. Manage documentation across all development stages, including project outlines, software documentation, and RoHS compliance. Essential Requirements Knowledge of digital signal processing, analogue and digital electronics. Proven experience in leading electronics design projects within a regulated industry. Strong background in design verification and testing for safety and EMC compliance. Hands-on experience with PCB assembly and repair (surface-mount and through-hole). Proficiency in debugging and testing using standard lab equipment. Familiarity with serial communication protocols such as I2C and SPI. Ability to produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation. Desirable Experience with Atmega and STM32 microcontrollers and embedded programming (C/C++/Assembly/C#/Python). Understanding of wired communication protocols including Ethernet and RS232. Exposure to DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Testability) principles. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
