Instrumentation and Electrical Technician
The specific duties of the Instrumentation & Electrical Technician shall be as delegated by the Maintenance Manager/Supervisor and will include but may not be limited to:
* Identifying, scheduling, carrying out and the recording of routine maintenance checks.
* Identifying, scheduling, carrying out and the recording of non‑routine maintenance repairs.
* Carrying out the routine servicing of various types of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, analysers etc.
* Assisting/carrying out vendor specified routine maintenance.
* Maintaining all site services in good working order and applying safe working practices.
* Responding to 24‑hour call‑outs or giving advice on plant breakdowns outside normal working hours where possible.
* Carrying out general housekeeping to keep facilities clean, tidy and free of preventable hazards.
* Assisting other technicians or operational staff as necessary and demonstrating a general understanding of the process, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems and their workings.
* Carrying out equipment isolations to permit safe maintenance on equipment.
* Assisting during the installation and commissioning of new plant facilities.
* Working with specialist vendor service engineers to ensure equipment servicing proceeds in a timely, efficient and acceptable manner.
* Liaising with and supervising contractors to ensure they fulfil permit requirements and perform their work to acceptable standards.
* Obtaining knowledge of equipment maintenance requirements and techniques through training seminars and liaison with suppliers, enhancing the efficiency and quality of in‑house servicing.
Qualifications and Experience:
* 4–5 years maintenance experience on equipment related to the installed instrument and/or electrical equipment.
* Instrument qualification (apprenticeship or NVQ level 3) with a good working knowledge in electrical.
* Ability to work independently or with others, with minimal supervision, and assume overall responsibility for routine and non‑routine maintenance tasks.
* Understanding of the workings of the oil and gas industry.
