Riverbank School are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative teacher with a passion for working with pupils with additional leaning needs. The post would suit a teacher from all phases with experience and more importantly an interest in ALN teaching. Successful candidates will benefit from relevant training and a personalised professional learning offer.

As part of the Western Learning Federation, Riverbank School offers a bespoke professional learning offer for all Teaching Assistants. This ensures that staff have the right skills set to provide the best possible experiences for our pupils and staff have the right skills to provide the best possible care and support for pupils with additional needs.

Riverbank School supports pupils aged 4-11 with a variety of additional learning needs including speech, communication and language difficulties, autistic spectrum condition, severe learning difficulties and physical and medical needs. Riverbank school is a caring and nurturing community that provides valuable care support and guidance for its pupils. Staff place pupils wellbeing at the heart of all aspects of their work to ensure we always "learning together to be the best we can".

Riverbank School, Ty Gwyn School and Woodlands School are part of the Western Learning Federation and as it is the only special school federation in Wales. We are a truly unique organisation where our schools support pupils aged 3-19 with Autism and/or profound and complex needs.

The Western Learning Federation promotes all schools as ‘Schools as Learning Organisations’. The foundations are built on a shared vision of ‘learning together to grow and achieve’. There is a culture and ethos of enquiry, innovation and exploration, with a focus on the collation and exchanging of learning knowledge.

Ty Gwyn school is a very special place, it is a place where a community comes together to enjoy life in a fun, happy, inclusive and compassionate way. All experiences at Ty Gwyn are pupil centred and tailored to individual needs. This setting and approach leads to an environment which is saturated with smiles and excitement.

Woodlands school has a strong culture of being inclusive, often families arrive with anxieties and significant challenges in their lives. Woodlands actively removes these barriers and ensures that these families become a part of the wider Woodlands family. ‘Learning for living’ is something that is actively lived and breathed by the Woodlands community through every aspect of every interaction at the school.

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

Internal candidates who wish to apply for this position on a secondment basis must obtain approval prior to application using Form SEC1 (4.C.081). Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
