SPT Labtech, a rapidly growing, £90m life sciences company backed by EQT private equity—is seeking an exceptional Group Financial Controls Manager to strengthen our corporate finance capabilities and support our ambitious global growth plans. Based at our head office near Cambridge, you'll take ownership of developing and embedding a best-in-class risk management framework and internal controls environment across the group. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Implementing and maintaining a Group Risk Management Framework. This will include, but not be limited to:
o Designing and implementing a comprehensive Group Risk Management framework covering all material risks across each department;
o Facilitating risk identification, assessment, and prioritisation workshops with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the Group;
o Maintaining the framework to capture emerging risks, business changes, or external developments as they arise;
o Assessing the effectiveness of controls, recommending improvements and preparing reports for the Audit Committee on control effectiveness and compliance;
o Formalising and circulating a delegation of authority matrix, clearly establishing approval limits across the business and integrating this within our ERP systems;
o Performing periodic reviews to ensure internal control documentation is kept up to date and consistently challenged;
o Delivering training to employees to ensure the framework and internal controls procedures implemented to manage the business risks are understood;
* Owning the financial policies and process documentation, ensuring these are kept up to date and publishing these, where appropriate, on the company’s Intranet;
* Driving process efficiencies for financial reporting, utilising the company’s ERP system as far as possible;
* Liaising and coordinating with external auditors as part of the annual, statutory audit process;
* Co-ordinating and reviewing the annual insurance renewals, as well as reviewing these periodically with our insurance broker to ensure sufficient cover is maintained across the Group
* Deputising for the Group Financial Controller in their absence;
* Supporting the team and company on other, ad hoc projects.
About you and your skillset.
* Qualified accountant, most likely Big Four trained ACA, with at least 3 years’ PQE;
* Experience working within a manufacturing organisation would be an advantage;
* Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounting (e.g. IFRS);
* Experience of internal control frameworks (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley);
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
* Ability to understand the underlying drivers of business performance and influence management through the presentation of data;
* Ability to communicate clearly;
* Experience of working in a multi-site or international business would be desirable;
* Strong IT and systems skills, in particular MS Excel,
* Experience with ERP systems;
* Self-motivated, organised and capable of developing in the current role over time with the ambition and drive to develop.
