SEND HLTA – Full-Time, Long-Term Role (Manchester)
The Education Specialists are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive SEND HLTA to work within a PRU-type setting in Manchester. This full-time, long-term position is available to start ASAP and offers a unique opportunity to take on a lead role within a supportive team environment.
This position will involve acting as a Lead Teaching Assistant for a significant portion of the day, while also providing classroom cover during teacher planning time and short-term absences.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate a team of Teaching Assistants to support students with SEND and SEMH needs
Deliver targeted interventions and structured learning activities to individuals and small groups
Provide classroom cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher
Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
Build strong, positive relationships with students to promote engagement and progress
Work closely with teaching staff and senior leaders to support student outcomes
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold HLTA status or have significant experience in a similar role
Have a strong background supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or within alternative provisions such as PRUs
Be confident leading groups and managing classroom behaviour independently
Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills
Be adaptable, resilient, and able to respond effectively to the needs of the setting
Desirable (but not essential):
Team Teach training or similar behaviour management certification
Experience covering lessons or delivering pre-planned work
