About The Role Product Engineer Location: Flexible - UK (Hybrid) Salary: £, to £, per annum (plus ILW, if residing & working in London) (DOE) Hours: per week Contract: Fixed term contract months Do you want to be part of a multidisciplinary product team focused on supporting teams in Crisis Response and Resilience? You will be technical owner for the British Red Cross’s crisis incident management platform (Veoci) as the platform is onboarded and the benefits of its capabilities are realised through a multi-phase release cycle. The role combines hands-on platform configuration and integration delivery with user-centred technical problem solving: working closely with staff and volunteers to understand real operational needs, translating these into dependable workflows and data structures, and prototyping lightweight solutions using approved technologies to demonstrate what is possible before changes are implemented at scale. What will a day in the life of a Product Engineer involve?
1. Working alongside users to understand needs and pain points
2. Spending time with operational colleagues to understand real workflows, constraints and failure modes, and find solutions.
3. Work with designers, user researchers and product managers to solve problems for users and the organisation within a multidisciplinary product team
4. Configure, improve and support Veoci
5. Developing and maintaining platform workflows, forms, automations and permissions, ensuring they meet user needs and are robust in live response contexts.
6. Supporting the organisation to get the most from its technologies in a response context
7. Being proactive in demonstrating technical solutions that meet the needs of users and the organisation, and support the product team to get buy-in from operational and technical colleagues.
To be a successful Product Engineer, what will you need?
8. An interest in working with users and designers to solve problems using technology
9. The ability to work closely with users and designers to understand needs and context, and create solutions using available technologies.
10. Platform configuration and quality discipline
11. Experience configuring and supporting low-code platforms in live environments where reliability is key.
12. Understanding of data and web technologies
13. Understanding of data structures and integration patterns that support data integrity, maintainability and user experience.
14. Collaboration in governed environments
15. Confidence working across product, ops, suppliers and enterprise technology teams, operating within security, data protection and change-control processes.
