About the Senior Project Manager / Deputy Head of Projects Role
The Senior Project Manager / Deputy Head of Projects is the go-to authority for project delivery — ensuring complex burner and combustion system orders are fulfilled on time, to spec, and within budget. You’ll act as the primary customer contact, manage cross-functional delivery teams, maintain detailed cost control, and oversee full technical and commercial lifecycle activities.
This role combines technical oversight with high-level client engagement — and positions you as the natural successor to the Head of Projects.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager / Deputy Head of Projects
* Own the entire project lifecycle — from customer order to post-delivery support
* Define project scope, confirm specs, and review contracts against technical quotations
* Perform and oversee engineering calculations to guide system design
* Lead coordination across engineering, drafting, procurement, manufacturing, and QA
* Maintain accurate project P&Ls, material costs, and delivery schedules
* Conduct project risk reviews, manage change orders, and resolve issues
* Communicate regularly with international clients, end users, and internal stakeholders
* Visit customer sites for project meetings, inspections, and commissioning support
* Review and release technical documentation and fabrication drawings
* Support continuous improvement and contribute to departmental leadership initiatives
* Assist with mentoring, training, and succession planning for junior project engineers
What We’re Looking For in a Senior Project Manager / Deputy Head of Projects
* Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related Engineering discipline
* Extensive experience in manufacturing and/or capital equipment project delivery
* Strong technical understanding of engineering principles — combustion industry knowledge is a plus
* Commercially astute with a proven track record in client-facing project roles
* Skilled at managing P&Ls, project scope, and risk
* Excellent communicator who can influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Strong leadership mindset with potential to move into Head of Projects role
* Ability to travel internationally for project delivery or client meetings
