Role Overview BDO’s Corporate Tax practice sits at the heart of our Tax function and plays an important role in the wider business. Our team works collaboratively with others across BDO, offering clients in the UK and overseas expert advice and solutions that help them overcome their challenges. Lead complex projects and work with a range of clients, managing client portfolios and delivering both compliance and advisory services. You’ll be expected to work pro‑actively, collaborate with senior managers, directors, and partners, and identify opportunities for additional services.
Responsibilities
Provide tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of clients using resources from a shared service team or via technology tools.
Manage a substantial portfolio of clients including control of client take‑on, engagement, billings, and identification of opportunities to improve recoveries and cash collection.
Pay attention to self‑development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within practice.
Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm and adapt the approach for the relevant audience.
Understand potential risks to the firm in relation to the firm’s quality control procedures and raise them to the appropriate person.
Get involved in special assignments on an ad hoc basis.
Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues.
Support, train, mentor and advise others in your own area.
Challenge current practice – driving improvements and championing change.
Take personal responsibility for your own decisions and actions and those of others.
Lead complex projects.
Key Qualifications
An in‑depth, up‑to‑date knowledge of taxation with specialist knowledge and the ability to deal with complex tax issues.
Project and staff management experience.
Ability to manage a substantial client portfolio profitably while actively seeking opportunities for developing new clients and selling new services to existing clients.
Experience dealing with client senior management.
Educated to degree level and/or CTA, ACA qualified or equivalent.
Demonstrable post‑qualified experience.
