Specialist Full Time Teacher within the Speech, Language and Communication Disorder Team based at Valley Primary Additionally Resourced Centre with outreach work Required from September 2024 Solihull Specialist Inclusion Support Service (SISS) is a high quality, highly valued local service working closely with Solihull’s maintained schools, academies and settings to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and motivated teacher to join our SLCD Team, who work in partnership with schools, to meet the needs of pupils with difficulties in the areas of Speech, Language, Communication and learning. The SISS SLCD Team manages two Additionally Resourced Centres (ARCs) in Solihull and has a small outreach team. Joining our team based at Valley primary SLCD ARC you will provide an outstanding, differentiated curriculum to meet the needs of the children with SLCD. Proficient in the use of a range of qualitative and quantitative assessment tools, you will plan the curriculum and ensure that ARC pupils make good progress and achieve their potential. Providing support to the whole school to meet the needs of children with SLCD, you will also effectively promote the inclusion of these children within mainstream lessons. You will teach a group of 4 pupils in year 6 for English and support a positive transition into the mainstream class for Maths lessons. You will facilitate a positive transition into Key Stage 3 for these pupils as the Valley ARC closes in Summer 2025. At that point, you will offer outreach support across Solihull, assessing children in school and offering advice, intervention and recommendations for SLCD. To be successful in the post, you will, as a qualified teacher, be able to demonstrate substantial and successful experience of working with and meeting the needs of children and young people with SEN including speech, language and communication. You will have experience of multi-agency working and have confidence in advising, supporting and making sound judgements on strategies to meet the needs of children. Highly organised you will be able to demonstrate effective and positive engagement and communication skills to ensure successful relationships are built and maintained with schools and partners.
