Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a full-time Student Programmes Manager to play a key leadership role across the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Health and Medicine. This post is offered on a fixed term basis until July 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational delivery of programme administration and student services across two diverse and high-performing faculties, ensuring consistent, high-quality experience for students and staff.
THE ROLE
Working closely with the Faculty Education Services Manager, you will lead the delivery of education services across both faculties. This includes student lifecycle processes, assessment and timetabling, student support, and programme administration.
You will:
1. Lead the operational delivery of programme administration services across the two faculties, ensuring efficiency, consistency, compliance and quality
2. Translate faculty education strategies into effective processes and service activity, monitoring performance against agreed objectives
3. Provide day-to-day leadership and line management to the Student Programme Officers and Programme Administrator, supporting performance, development and effective workload planning
4. Work collaboratively with academic colleagues, professional services teams and central Student and Education Services to ensure joined-up service delivery
5. Monitor service performance, student experience and compliance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
This role operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and requires strong organisational leadership, a focus on service excellence, and the ability to manage complexity across multiple departments.
ABOUT YOU
You will be an experienced manager with a strong background in programme administration and/or student services, ideally within higher education or a similar complex environment.
You will bring:
6. Significant experience of managing operational delivery in a high-volume, deadline-driven setting
7. Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams, setting high standards and managing performance effectively
8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and inspire trust across diverse stakeholder groups
9. Experience of implementing operational plans and making informed decisions within defined frameworks
10. Excellent communication, analytical and IT skills, including the ability to use data to inform decision making
11. A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond to changing priorities
12. A commitment to continuous improvement, staff development and delivery of an excellent student experience.
