What are we looking for?
Our business is rapidly expanding, we are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our friendly and driven team.
You must be eligible to work in the UK.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is critical in driving revenue growth, forging strategic partnerships and identifying new business opportunities across our hospitality business.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Strategy
* Identify and analyse emerging market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
* Develop and execute strategic plans to attract new business opportunities.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
* Generate leads through networking, events, digital channels, and direct outreach.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, travel agencies, event planners, and other stakeholders.
* Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
Partnership Development
* Establish and manage strategic alliances with tour operators, travel platforms, event organisers, and B2B partners.
* Negotiate contracts and commercial terms to ensure profitability and sustainability.
Revenue Growth
* Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities with existing accounts.
* Work closely with the marketing team to align promotional campaigns with business development efforts.
Reporting & KPIs
* Track sales performance, pipeline metrics, and ROI from business development initiatives.
* Prepare regular reports and forecasts for senior management.
Experience:
* 3-5+ years of proven experience in business development, sales, or partnership management, preferably in the hospitality sector.
* Strong network within the hospitality and travel industry is a plus.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to think strategically and work independently.
* Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite.

Who are we?
Surgeons Quarter, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has developed its property and facilities to create an integrated conferencing and events facility within the College campus, including the stylish 129-bedroom hotel, Ten Hill Place Hotel and The Gait at Hill Square, our holiday apartments.
The facilities lend themselves to a variety of activities and events including conferences, professional meetings, weddings, exhibitions and social events. SQ manage a large food and beverage operation, which includes management of venue bars, private banqueting, offsite catering and a high street café, Café 1505.
Surgeons Quarter, in conjunction with SpaceUK, operate one of the largest Edinburgh Festival Fringe venues and additionally SQ in association with "Spirit of Scotland" is an extensive provider of Scottish dinner show Evenings.
In 2020, SQ opened Surgeons Quarter Travel as a member of Hays Independence Group.
Our offices on Roxburgh Place are a renovated late 18th century building now fully modernised and open plan. The space offers a welcoming, bright and contemporary working environment.
