A client within the Public Sector based in West Sussex is currently recruiting for an Administrator to join their Building Control team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in an administrative environment. The Role Key purpose of the role is to provide high-quality administrative support to the new Building Control team, ensuring the smooth processing of building control applications, effective communication with applicants, accurate record-keeping, and efficient responses to building control enquiries. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries via phone and email, managing the team’s shared mailbox, and handling incoming and outgoing post Logging and responding to customer enquiries efficiently, using databases to search legacy applications where required Receiving, logging, and processing Building Control applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate Liaising with applicants to request missing information and provide guidance on application procedures Coordinating and scheduling site inspections and preparing documentation including correspondence, inspection reports, decision notices, and completion certificates Generating secure payment links for Building Control fees, monitoring payment status, and supporting invoicing and reconciliation with the finance team Providing general administrative support to the team and assisting other divisions of the Economy and Planning Directorate as neededThe Candidate To be considered for this role you will require: Minimum 2 GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English Previous experience in a customer-facing administrative environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience maintaining record management systemsThe below skills would be beneficial for the role: Experience working in local government or a related field Knowledge of Building Control requirements or planning procedures Familiarity with in-house systems such as Pay360 and Building Control databasesThe client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £16.50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £12.85 per hour PAYE).
