Responsibilities
As an Occupational Therapist, you play a vital role in helping individuals improve their functional abilities to perform daily activities. Your expertise in assessment, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient’s needs is essential. Key responsibilities include:
1. Evaluation and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess patients' functional status, strengths, and limitations across physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional domains. Use these assessments to identify difficulties and set personalized treatment goals.
2. Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop and execute individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, therapeutic goals, and patient preferences, using evidence-based techniques to promote independence and quality of life.
3. Patient Education and Training: Educate patients, families, and caregivers about therapy processes, adaptive strategies, and techniques to improve function. Provide hands-on training in daily activities, mobility, energy conservation, and assistive device use to ensure safety and effectiveness.
4. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with healthcare professionals such as COTAs, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, and physicians to coordinate care. Effective communication ensures seamless support throughout rehabilitation.
5. Progress Monitoring and Outcomes: Regularly monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and measure outcomes using standardized tools and patient feedback to ensure optimal recovery.
Qualifications
* Masters or Doctorate in an accredited Occupational Therapy program
* Current license or certification in the state of practice
