Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Geomatics Analyst to join a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes. You will use specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from state-of-the-art Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LiDAR Terrain Mapper.
The Geomatics team, within National Monitoring Survey, provides a range of specialist services to enable effective evidence to be used across the business. The team collects and analyses high-quality LiDAR, Aerial Photography, Bathymetry & Satellite data and works with National & Area teams to co-deliver monitoring requirements.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data and perform quality control to support National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Utilise ESRI GIS products (ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap) and other specialist software to manage and analyse large and complex mapping datasets, preferably including Airborne LiDAR.
* Apply Remote Sensing techniques and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
* Communicate findings effectively and work with teams to meet challenging deadlines, sometimes unsupervised.
* Contribute to developing and following procedures for data handling and product delivery.
* Be prepared to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required and to work from EA offices as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant degree-level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience and broad GIS skills using ESRI products such as ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap, and experience with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience of processing and quality control of LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models (advantageous).
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem‑solving skills, and good attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills and ability to communicate effectively; able to work unsupervised to meet deadlines.
Additional Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is a national team located at various sites; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office.
* Interviews will be in-person at the Bath office and will consist of a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
* The post is full-time; other working patterns will be considered.
* Length of contract: 17 months – Up to March 2027.
