A Vacancy at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. The Dorset Stroke and Neuro Service (East) is looking to appoint a Stroke and Neuro Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Development Post (Band 6 to Band 7).
This is a permanent 27‑hour per week role, with full support in the first 6‑12 months to develop towards Band 7 requirements.
The role works across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, providing assessment and rehabilitation in community settings for patients with neurological and stroke health conditions.
We offer employment in a supportive, pro‑active team that includes Rehabilitation Assistants, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in Neurology, and a Band 7 Team Leader.
Applicants who require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply for this position.
Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
Responsibilities
1. Provide highly specialist clinical assessment, treatment and advice to service users with stroke and neurological health conditions.
2. Provide clinical guidance and advice to other members of the Multi‑disciplinary Team through participation in screening of referrals, team meetings, joint treatments, teaching and case conferences.
3. Support the Team Leader to continually enhance service quality and contribute towards service development.
4. Provide an autonomous and flexible approach, balancing leadership and clinical commitments to support service users, Band 6 senior therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and students. Provide supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support.
5. Provide specialist clinical advice, leadership and support ensuring the needs of the service are met by exercising and demonstrating high levels of clinical judgement, critical analysis and advanced decision‑making skills.
6. Demonstrate high levels of leadership and positive role modelling.
