TSL is a specialist event lighting and rigging supplier for live events in the corporate, live music, theatre, fashion, sporting and tv and broadcast sectors.

This hands-on role takes overall responsibility for the handling of trade rental and dry hire customers, enquiries and orders. Key objectives of the role include:

* To identify and develop connections with key clients to secure long-term relationships and repeat business.
* Development of the sales pipeline and strategic, targeted plan for revenue of trade and dry hire orders
* Ensure the profitable and efficient delivery of dry and trade hire orders, handled by the hire team.
* Provide leadership, direction and line management to hire team members.
* Hands-on job handling of rental projects. Providing clients with advice and completing their specifications.
* Efficiently respond to rental enquiries from the company’s clients and to handle and develop customer relationships.
* Assist with recruitment and training for future hire team members.
* Identify and manage strategy for used equipment sales and subsequent planning and negotiation.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

* Provide line management and task allocation to members of the Hire team. This management will include the coordination and approval of holiday requests, the management of time and tasks, profitable and efficient use of resources.
* Monitor and control hours worked by direct reports, in accordance with company employee handbook and relevant legislation.
* Act as job handler in all aspects of delivering a rental enquiry; to include calculating technical specifications, equipment, and transport requirements, etc. This job handling will be; practical, administrative and commercial.
* Handle rental enquiries for rental clients. Process client requests and issue quotations / proposals for equipment rental efficiently.
* Efficiently pass over enquiries for rental projects, to the projects team
* Match client requirements to available rental stock to maximise profitable delivery and execution on specific projects. Take overall responsibility for the profitable and maximum utilisation of assets required and the minimisation of costs incurred.
* Provide and coordinate out of hours support and advice to active projects and clients, across the team managed.
* Monitor job progress and act as point of contact for clients in the event of any changes or additional requests throughout the rental.
* Ensure all hire department’s HireTrack jobs are kept up to date and adhere to the company’s prescribed way of working.
* Provide approval and commercial input on quotations prepared by team members. (Quotations requiring approval to be defined by criteria set and reviewed with Line Manager.)
* Prepare rental invoices and close HireTrack job upon completion of each rental. Ensure all team members have correctly invoiced all current projects, on a regular basis.
* Maintain missing items for your department and assist with missing items globally. Invoice missing items and re order items on a monthly or asap basis depending on the type and availability.
* Identify and locate potential rental projects and sales opportunities for TSL, feeding information back to team members and reporting line manager. Actively coordinate sales intelligence information and input from broader team and discuss at regular staff meetings.
* Keep the Line Manager and company’s systems up to date with all aspects of client contact, project progress and prospective commercial contact, both positive and negative.
* Maintain a high-performing hire team with clear roles and responsibilities whilst undertaking regular performance reviews.
* Managing any job changes and customer confirmations, collating and reporting all charges to be invoiced.
* Undertake visits to new and prospective clients, as directed and under own initiative.
* Provide support to the Directors, in other aspects of the business’s activity, as required, requested and directed
* Keep all work related information confidential and acting in a professional manner at all times, in all work and industry-social situations.
* Identify any areas of our operation where you believe training and additional skills may be required or benefit yourself or the business.
* Provide feedback to Line Manager of any areas of improvement, development or growth of the business identified. Take a role within the team in problem solving and contribute to team & business improvement.
* Be aware of and complying with the company Health and Safety Policy.
* Ensure that the Company’s policies, rules, procedures and obligations are observed in carrying out the above duties.

Representing the Company:

* Identify business opportunities with the aim of efficiently maximising the rental revenue and resulting profit margins.
* Assist in marketing projects as requested. Attend trade shows and other industry events as necessary.
* Keep abreast of all business opportunities through consistent communication and visits with recognised influencers and decision makers.
* Actively host client visits to TSL by both potential and existing clients wherever appropriate.
* Keep abreast of any technical issues and new products that will enhance our rental inventory and services offer.

Skills Required:

* Good communications / interpersonal skills.
* Good management skills and ability to lead and coordinate a team.
* Commercially astute. Good understanding of profitability, margin protection, cost control and basic accounting practices.
* Ability to manage a situation and effectively deal with both junior and senior colleagues.
* Good working knowledge of a range of current lighting and rigging equipment and practices.
* Strong IT knowledge.
* Eloquent. Able to write a proposal and express an idea or concept to a client or industry partner, either written or verbal.
* Numerate. Able to use spread sheets and IT to monitor budgets, profit margins etc.
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Proactive, self-motivated individual capable of working on their own initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast developing company.
* Full driving licence, own transport and passport required.
* Ability to travel within the UK, often at short notice.
