This role is central to the successful delivery of the CP7 Civils & Structures Framework, supporting vital infrastructure improvements across the Wales & Borders Route. Current Projects & Contracts CP7 infrastructure projects and renewals Bridge & Footbridge replacements and refurbishments Station upgrades and accessibility improvements (AfA- Access for All) Tunnel refurbishments Flood alleviation and scour prevention schemes Retaining wall renewals and structural strengthening Role Overview As a Construction CRE, you will play a key role in delivering the CP7 Wales Civils Framework. You will oversee construction activities on site, coordinate design and survey inputs, and ensure that all works meet safety, quality and programme expectations. You will also act as a key point of contact for clients, designers, subcontractors and internal teams, helping to drive clarity, collaboration and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Carry out Contractors Responsible Engineer duties, ensuring full compliance with assurance and governance processes. Oversee and monitor design, construction and survey activities, ensuring alignment with programme and budget. Manage design change requests, change orders and design submittals for approval. Work closely with clients and design teams to resolve technical queries and design issues. Identify and manage risks and opportunities across the design–construction interface. Conduct inspections, assess construction methodologies and review temporary works requirements. Promote best practice, innovation and quality assurance throughout project delivery. Support project handback processes and ensure all H&S documentation is complete and accurate. Collaborate with design and commercial teams to negotiate revisions and contractual changes. Provide regular progress and assurance reports to the Contractors Engineering Manager. Ideal Candidate Profile Extensive experience as a Construction CRE / Contractors Responsible Engineer within the rail sector. Strong understanding of civil and rail engineering principles, construction methods and safety requirements. Knowledge of Network Rail’s GRIP process and experience delivering rail asset renewal projects. Proven ability to manage design coordination, temporary works and construction methodologies. Confident in stakeholder engagement, including landowners, authorities and regulatory bodies. A collaborative approach, with the ability to lead teams and influence positive outcomes. PTS Full UK driving license Academic & Professional Qualifications Minimum BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Chartered membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE) is desirable.
