Quality Engineer, High Volume Projects - Machining Workshop

About the Role
To ensure all machining operations produce components that consistently meet design intent, compliance, and customer specifications. The Quality Engineer will provide technical quality support across all machining disciplines, drive continuous‑process improvement and act as the main point of contact for quality control, inspection, and compliance matters within the workshop.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process & Product Validation – define and validate machining process flows, inspection plans, and metrology requirements for new parts and batches.
2. Quality Assurance & Control – manage defects and drive corrective actions in accordance with AS9100.
3. Support Capability & Statistical Control – support the calculation of CP, CPK, LSL/USL, and other SPC metrics.
4. Root Cause Analysis – Lead RCCA for quality incidents and implement corrective/action plans.
5. Documentation & Reporting – Produce and maintain comprehensive quality documentation and KPIs.
6. Continuous Improvement – Champion initiatives; mentor operators on quality centric practices.
7. Compliance – Support audit activities and maintenance of certifications (AS9100)
8. Cross Functional Collaboration – Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Tooling teams to resolve design to manufacturing challenges.
Key Deliverables
9. A verified inspection SOP for each new component.
10. Monthly CP/CPK trend reports and actions.
11. Root‑cause analysis logs with action‑item close‑out.
12. Audit‑ready documentation and evidence packages.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
Essential Criteria
13. 3–5 years in a machining environment in a quality engineering or quality control capacity. Experience with high‑precision aerospace or automotive parts is highly desirable.
14. Possess detailed knowledge and proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
15. Demonstrated ability to conduct root‑cause analysis (5‑why, fishbone, FMEA) and drive actionable improvements.
16. Works autonomously under limited supervision; collaborates effectively (Stakeholder Management) with operators, engineers, and supplier quality engineers
17. Clear verbal and written communication; ability to produce concise technical reports for non‑technical audiences.
18. Lead or internal audit qualified

19. Knowledge of SAP Quality Management module
20. Greenbelt or Blackbelt
21. Experience of quality engineering in an electrical cable environment
