We’re supporting a large-scale organisational expansion and are seeking an experienced IT Manager to provide hands‑on technical leadership across a complex workplace transformation. This role will take ownership of designing, specifying, and overseeing the delivery of modern workplace technology environments.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring solutions are user‑centred, standards-driven, and delivered to a high technical standard, working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and validate workplace technology standards and configurations.
* Specify end‑user hardware including devices, docking solutions, monitors, mounts, cabling and desk layouts.
* Design and implement meeting room technology solutions (e.g. Microsoft Teams Rooms, AV systems, displays).
* Review and challenge supplier proposals for technical accuracy, suitability and value.
* Oversee wireless access point design, coverage and commissioning.
* Assess edge‑switch capacity and identify upgrade or scaling requirements.
* Review structured cabling designs and coordinate with contractors during delivery.
* Provide on‑site technical oversight during installation and commissioning phases.
* Ensure all designs prioritise user experience, accessibility and ergonomic/DSE best practice.
* Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation (specs, diagrams, commissioning notes).
* Contribute to procurement processes and supplier selection decisions.
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong hands‑on experience with end‑user hardware, desk setups, docking and multi‑screen environments.
* Solid understanding of DSE principles and user‑focused workstation design.
* Deep knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms and meeting room AV technologies (cameras, microphones, speakers, displays, controllers).
* Experience specifying and evaluating large display and projection solutions.
* Good understanding of Microsoft 365 and Teams device integration.
* Proven experience designing wireless networks, including access point placement and coverage planning (ideally with Cisco Meraki).
* Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, switching, patching, capacity planning).
* Experience reviewing structured cabling designs and working with contractors on fit‑out/refurbishment projects.
* Strong ability to review and challenge technical proposals from suppliers and partners.
* Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work on‑site during critical phases of delivery and commissioning.
* Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.
* Pragmatic, delivery‑focused and user‑centric mindset.
* Confident influencing stakeholders and suppliers without reliance on hierarchy.
* Experience with Meraki switching.
* Familiarity with interactive collaboration tools (e.g. smart boards, interactive displays).
* Ability to interpret CAD drawings and technical floor plans.
* Understanding of ITIL processes.
* Relevant Microsoft, AV, or networking certifications.
