The Opportunity
As a Systems Engineer within an Airborne ASW team, you will work across research, development, specialist technical advice, and independent test & evaluation. You’ll collaborate closely with customers and multidisciplinary experts to design and deliver next-generation acoustic and sensor-based solutions in the air domain.
This role is ideal for someone who is not only technically strong, but genuinely motivated by the mission, someone who wants to understand the physics of underwater acoustics, aircraft systems, signal processing and detection theory, and apply that knowledge in an operational context.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Applying physics-based problem solving within a structured systems or software engineering lifecycle
* Supporting the development and assessment of advanced airborne acoustic systems
* Using modelling, simulation and rapid prototyping to inform system design decisions
* Working with high-fidelity sensor and aircraft simulation data
* Contributing to independent technical evaluation and experimental activities
* Taking ownership of technical tasks while thriving in a collaborative, high-performing team
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals who bring:
* A strong academic foundation in Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Oceanography, Electronics or a closely related discipline
* A passion for the air domain and anti-submarine warfare challenges
* An understanding of systems and/or software engineering lifecycles
* Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving capability
* The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm to tackle complex defence challenges
