Job Description
PQ Engineer
This role will be part of the PQ function and will provide support to the Lead Engineer. The role will primarily focus on Interior Trim Perceived Quality, supporting projects in the design stages of the program. Additional support will be provided upon request for part/assembly maturation processes. The engineer will also support root cause analysis for production/design-related concerns and review and validate system integration for interior themes.
The role involves the development of PQ techniques and processes for the company and supporting mentorship and knowledge transfer related to PQ methods and processes.
Main Activities & Tasks
1. Report to the Head of the team, with daily activities managed by the PQ Lead Engineer.
2. Perform CAD operations, including creating and manipulating geometry to communicate Gap & Rad Planning PQ requirements, with at least 50% of time dedicated to geometry generation and amendments.
3. Utilize Catia V5 for 2D data, sectional data, Part Design, and Geometric Surface Design.
4. Use TCUA (Team Centre) PLM systems; development of PQ activities for interior trims is desirable.
5. Support the PQ Lead Engineer in vehicle-wide activities and maintenance of the Gap & Rad Plan.
6. Assist in mentoring engineering teams to understand and apply design and engineering practices that meet PQ targets.
7. Consider holistic requirements of parts and systems, including die and draft angles, grain depths, steel conditions, lifter integration, TPL position, assembly sequence, tooling access, tolerances, radii, flangelengths, clipping, and locator positions.
8. Support digital reviews and sign-off events related to interior system PQ activities.
9. Develop Product Attribute Targets based on the Product Attribute PALS positioning for PQ.
10. Develop Scope of Work with key deliverables.
11. Assist with benchmarking of competitor vehicles and report findings.
12. Support Optical Quality and Perceived Quality development and assessment activities.
13. Work with the PQ team to adhere to overseas standards, processes, and guidelines.
