Legal Assistant – Commercial Eastbourne Monday – Friday full-time hours£24,000 - £26,500We are looking for an experienced legal assistant to join our well-established legal clients Commercial Department. You will be responsible for ensuring that client matters are managed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. Combining traditional legal secretarial tasks, administrative and client-facing responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:
* Provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to the assigned Lawyer.
* Act as a point of contact for clients, solicitors, estate agents, business brokers, and third parties.
* Manage new business enquiries and issue fee quotes as directed.
* Open new files and complete relevant onboarding processes.
* Collect and verify Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Client (KYC) documentation.
* Prepare sale packs and request searches, indemnity policies, and other documents from agreed providers.
* Obtain official documentation from HM Land Registry.
* Draft standard legal documents and correspondence as instructed.
* Handle telephone enquiries and direct calls appropriately.
* Assist with the exchange of contracts and preparation of non-complex legal documents.
* Prepare engrossment documents for client signatures.
* Organise completion processes, including redemption statements, completion statements, and associated correspondence.
* Generate client bills upon instruction.
* Oversee completion arrangements—manage payments, coordinate with parties involved, and submit SDLT returns.
* File applications with the Land Registry (e.g., AP1s, RX1s, CN1s, FR1s).
* Support with Companies House filings.
* Respond to requisitions from HM Land Registry when required.
* Assist with file closures and archiving.
Requirements & Skills:
* Prior experience in a similar role, such as Commercial Assistant or Legal Secretary.
* Working knowledge of legal processes and procedures & familiarity with the operations of a legal office.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard office software.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
* Professional telephone manner and client-facing communication skills.
