We're looking for a experienced and compassionate professional to join us as a Safe Communities Officer, helping to create safer, stronger communities across Norfolk.
This is being offered as a 12 month fixed term contract or for internal candidates a secondment opportunity.
Location: Norfolk area.
Due to the nature of this role, frequent travel is required, and a company car will be provided for work use.

Role and Responsibilities
As a Safe Communities Officer, you are responsible for providing a swift, victim‑centred response to reports of antisocial behaviour (ASB) and hate crime within a designated geographical patch. The role involves developing a strong understanding of issues affecting local communities, identifying root causes, and taking proactive steps to prevent and resolve ASB. You build rapport with victims, witnesses, and community members, ensuring safeguarding is prioritised at all times, while working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to implement long‑lasting solutions. You manage and prioritise a complex caseload, assess risk and impact, and act quickly to reduce harm and escalation. The position also includes investigating incidents, gathering evidence, preparing legal documentation, working closely with legal teams, and attending court where necessary, maintaining responsibility for each case until resolution is fully achieved.

Essential Skills and Experience
* Understanding of community safety issues, including antisocial behaviour, hate crime, and safeguarding.
* Experience working with vulnerable individuals and communities.
* Ability to manage a complex caseload with strong risk‑management and problem‑solving skills.
* Strong ability to prioritise and take proportionate action to resolve issues.
* Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
* Experience investigating incidents and working directly with victims, witnesses, and partner agencies.
* Ability to gather evidence, prepare legal documentation, and work effectively with legal teams.
* Confidence to attend court as part of case progression.
* Full UK driving licence.
* (Desirable) Knowledge of housing law and experience working in a regulated environment.
* (Development Opportunity) Ability to work towards gaining a Level 3 BTEC in Community Safety.
