Grosvenor Hart Homes is a new social enterprise on a mission to improve the life chances of children, young people and their families and we are looking for Finance and Housing Assistant to join us based out of our Chester office as we expand our multi-disciplinary team. Grosvenor Hart Homes became a registered provider of social housing in June 2024.
Addressing three critical foundations, we provide high-quality affordable homes simultaneously paired with employment and wellbeing support programmes, tailored around the needs of individuals, and designed to empower them to overcome barriers, fulfil their potential and achieve better life outcomes.
The role of the Finance and Housing Assistant reports to the Senior Finance Manager with a secondary/dotted reporting line to the Housing Director. The role provides administrative support to the finance team, which is also supported by a central services team in the wider Grosvenor organisation. The role will also provide finance associated administrative support for the housing management service, ensuring we maintain appropriate records and deliver a high-quality service to tenants.

Key role responsibilities include:
Cash Management and Funding
* Processing high volumes of receipts for rent, council tax refunds and other income
* Preparation and posting of journals including cashbooks, recharges to other entities
* Preparation and processing of ad-hoc payments
* Monthly banking of cheques
* Daily bank balance review
Financial Reporting
* Approval of invoices on a daily basis
* Creation of sales invoices and reviewing sales processes
* Month-end journal postings (e.g. payroll, prepayments, accruals, depreciation)
* Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
* Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly management accounts, budgets and forecasts to predetermined timetables and to a high degree of accuracy.
* Support the preparation of the annual statutory accounts for four legal entities
Financial Control, Systems and Risk Management
* Managing risk through adhering to internal processes and controls.
* Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of Finance team processes by identifying and highlighting improvement options.
* Using Microsoft applications, along with management of separate finance and housing management systems.
Housing Assistant Administration Support
* Run the weekly rent debit and complete the cash receipts in the housing management system
* Provide support for housing services, including, rent accounting, managing voids and arrears, pre--tenancy prep, adverts for lettings and tenancy administration
* Support compliance with relevant regulations by maintaining accurate records of any customer interactions, and of repairs, maintenance, and complaints using specialised software
* Support development of relationships with partner agencies who can add value to the GHH tenant offer (e.g. money management services)
Leadership and Teamwork
* Action problems and issues as they occur; escalating to senior management if necessary.
* Participate in team meetings and ensure information is disseminated promptly to and from staff.
* Engaging with internal and external stakeholders and advisors in a professional manner.
Projects and Strategy
* Undertake ad-hoc project work as required.
* To actively acquire a broad knowledge of Grosvenor Hart Homes’ mission and 10 year business model

Qualifications
* Relevant accounting qualification and/or experience (e.g. AAT qualified)
* Be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
* Hold a full driving licence

* Experience of or interest in service delivery involving children and young people and awareness of trauma-informed practice
* An interest in social housing and desire to upskill in this area
