The Role
As a Graduate Bid Writer, you’ll support the preparation and submission of high quality bids and tenders. Working closely with experienced Bid Managers and subject matter experts, you’ll gain hands on experience across the full bid lifecycle.
The role briefly encompasses the following:
1. Assisting with written responses for PQQs, ITTs, RFQs and other tender submissions
2. Drafting clear, concise and compliant answers aligned to client requirements and evaluation criteria
3. Editing, proofreading and formatting bid documents to a professional standard
4. Supporting the production of CVs, case studies, method statements and executive summaries
5. Researching client organisations, project requirements and market sectors
6. Gathering and organising information from operational, technical, commercial and HSEQ teams
7. Maintaining and updating the bid content library, including case studies and standard responses

9. Through structured learning and on the job support, you will:
10. Develop an understanding of bid best practice, scoring methodologies and win themes
11. Learn how to interpret tender documents and client priorities
12. Build confidence seeking and incorporating feedback to improve writing quality
13. Gain experience in bid coordination, document control and version management
14. Support compliance checks prior to submission
15. Learn how to upload and submit bids via procurement portals
16. Typical progression from this role is into a Bid Writer position within 18–24 months, subject to performance and development.

Essential
17. Excellent written English with strong attention to detail
18. Ability to structure information clearly and logically
19. Strong organisational and time management skills
20. Confidence communicating with colleagues at all levels
21. Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
22. A positive attitude and willingness to learn, take feedback and meet deadlines
Desirable
23. Awareness of public or private sector procurement processes
24. Experience of academic, technical or structured business writing
25. Familiarity with procurement portals (e.g. Delta, Proactis, Atamis)
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
26. Degree (or expected degree) in a relevant subject, such as:
27. English, Journalism or Communications
28. Business, Marketing or Management
29. Engineering, Construction or another technical discipline (with strong writing ability)
Desirable
30. Placement year, internship or part time role involving writing, research or proposals
