Apprentice Engineer

We are looking for a motivated, dedicated, and willing Apprentice Engineer to join our busy engineering department. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be provided with mentorship and guidance alongside the apprenticeship programme. This is a great opportunity to work and learn.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Work closely with Engineers, Team Leaders, and Line Leaders to understand, investigate, and resolve running issues to ensure maximum efficiency from equipment
* Follow a structured development plan, working across three departments with different types of machinery and engineering requirements
* Assist in carrying out preventative maintenance to minimise downtime from breakdowns and maintenance
* Commit to a 5 yearLevel 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician apprenticeship
* 20% of your working time will be allocated to completing apprenticeship requirements, delivered weekly by an experienced tutor
* Complete assigned tasks each week to demonstrate competence within the role
* Work towards end point assessment requirements for the Engineering Fitter position
* Receive support for both offsite and onsite training


Apprenticeship Programme Details

* Supporting planned preventative maintenance
* Carrying out reactive repairs and improvements on equipment
* Sourcing spare parts and service contracts
* Identifying ways to improve asset performance
* Promoting and adhering to Health and Safety across the factory and site, ensuring machinery is safe to use
* Performing duties to a high standard and supporting quality assurance and improvement processes
* Ensuring all food legality, safety, quality, and authenticity procedures are followed
* Complying with all company policies, procedures, ethical standards, and Health and Safety requirements


Person Specification

* Maths and English GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above
* Demonstrate a keen interest in engineering and a desire to learn new skills and gain experience
* Be committed to both the role and completing the apprenticeship programme
* Have good teamwork skills
* Be able to follow detailed procedures and instructions and work to deadlines with a methodical approach
* Have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Be comfortable using machinery and computerised systems
* Be able to carry out work requiring physical/manual dexterity and strength
* Be motivated, driven, and enthusiastic, with the ability to maintain focus and concentration
* Live within a commutable distance of Moulton, Spalding and be able to travel to and from work independently
