Job Overview
Community Staff Nurse 0-19 Universal Childrens Services – A Band 5 vacancy for a Registered Nurse or Childrens Nurse to work as a Community Staff Nurse within Thurrock as part of the Healthy Families service. The role works alongside the Health Visiting and School Health teams, with the opportunity to apply for specialist community public health nursing courses in health visiting or school nursing.
We seek a nurse who wants to develop in a progressive, innovative environment and enhance their career. The successful candidate will join the Healthy Families team and help deliver the 0‑19 Healthy Child Programme, improving health and well‑being in the diverse community of Thurrock.
Main duties of the job
* Registered Nurse/Childrens Nurse with proven experience in multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency settings.
* Positive attitude towards actively engaging difficult to reach client populations.
* Experience working closely with families and an understanding of the whole‑family approach to care.
* Good clinical and leadership skills.
* Excellent motivational skills.
* Understanding of key policies relating to children.
* Forward‑thinking and solution‑focused; ability to work within a team and independently.

Induction
NELFT places a great deal of importance on welcoming and inducting new starters. All new starters join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake up to two weeks of comprehensive induction, including mandatory training, systems training and allocation of equipment. New starters also have the opportunity to meet the executive team and senior managers and attend drop‑in sessions on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction takes place at the head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post is subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt unless they are currently part way through a probationary period or are a bank member of staff.
High Cost Area Supplement
As a High Cost Area Supplement, the post attracts 5% of the basic salary (minimum £1,303 to a maximum £2,198 per annum, pro rata for part time).
