Warehouse Supervisor
The Role
The successful candidate will oversee the site Warehouse and logistics/despatch facility and team, take primary responsibility for driving forward best in class manufacturing performance. As part of the site team, you will also contribute to the overall management of the business unit and the drive for continuous operational improvement. Your working pattern will be based on a two-week rotating shift pattern; Monday to Friday 6 am – 2 pm, Monday to Friday 2 pm – 10 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations
* Supervise day-to-day warehouse activities including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch of cheese products.
* Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity, hygiene) for different cheese types and ingredients.
* Enforce FIFO/FEFO practices to maintain product quality and shelf life.
Inventory Management
* Maintain accurate inventory records using warehouse management systems (WMS) or manual logs.
* Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
* Monitor stock levels and coordinate with production and procurement teams to avoid shortages or overstocking.
Food Safety & Quality Compliance
* Ensure compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, ISO 14001 local food regulations).
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation within warehouse and cold storage areas.
* Ensure correct labelling, traceability, and batch control of cheese products.
Team Supervision
* Supervise, train, and schedule warehouse staff, including forklift operators and loaders.
* Monitor staff performance and enforce safety, hygiene, and operational procedures.
* Promote a safe working environment and ensure use of PPE.
Health & Safety
* Enforce workplace health and safety regulations, especially in cold storage and material handling areas.
* Ensure safe operation and maintenance of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
* Report and investigate incidents, accidents, or near misses.
Coordination & Reporting
* Coordinate with production, quality assurance, logistics, and planning teams to meet dispatch schedules.
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse reports (stock levels, dispatches, wastage, damages).
* Assist during internal and external audits.
About You
Essential Criteria:
* You will have a minimum of 2 years' in a stores/warehousing environment
* Experience of leading and managing a team.
* You will have a successful track record of developing a lean culture and GMP and delivering process improvements.
* You will have strong communication skills and be able to clearly demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
* H&S responsibilities in a manufacturing environment.
* Valid Counterbalance OR Reach Forklift license with 12 months recent operation experience
* Valid Full UK Car driving licence.
* Able to demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices are applied in the store's environment
* Able to plan and organise tasks effectively
Desirable:
* Relevant experience within a food production/despatch environment
* Worked with WMS
