Warehouse Team Leader – Hands-On Role
Job Summary
We are looking for a proactive, hands-on Warehouse Team Leader to take day-to-day responsibility for our commercial catering equipment warehouse. You'll lead a small team (3–5 operatives) and be actively involved in all key areas from unloading containers and stock control to order picking and dispatch. You will report directly to the company owner and work closely with senior operations to ensure the warehouse runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
Duties
* Supervise and lead daily warehouse operations including goods-in, picking, packing, and dispatch.
* Work alongside your team, handling stock, unloading deliveries, and fulfilling orders.
* Operate forklifts and pump trucks for loading/unloading and stock movement (valid licence preferred).
* Maintain accurate inventory records using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
* Allocate daily tasks and monitor team performance, ensuring productivity and attention to detail.
* Ensure all warehouse areas are clean, safe, and organised at all times.
* Oversee health and safety compliance and conduct regular equipment checks.
* Provide training and hands-on support to staff; help new starters get up to speed.
* Communicate clearly with the company owner and wider operations team to align on priorities and workflow.
Skills
* Proven experience as a warehouse team leader, supervisor, or senior operative.
* Willing to work physically and lead from the front in a busy warehouse environment.
* Forklift licence highly desirable (counterbalance or reach).
* Experience in stock control, WMS/inventory systems, and logistics.
* Confident delegator with good communication and leadership skills.
* Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious with a high attention to detail.
Job Types: Full-time, Temp to perm
Contract length: 8 months
Pay: £15.00 per hour
